Mythology in Bronze

Inspired by low relief sculpture, heraldic images and mythology, this series of 3 works encapsulate the symbolic imagery that features in the banners, shields and crests of the Middle Ages.  The potent forces of each symbol inform not only identity but also value systems.  The Griffin with its hybrid form composed of part lion part eagle represents valour and generosity, the Cormorant symbolises wisdom and watchfulness and the Voyage, faith and fidelity.  By removing the colour and just working with the linear forms of each image,  offers a greater degree of focus to reflect on the power and character of each image.
