The Fallen King

This work is a reflection on the effects of cultural disruption and how the turbulent cycles of history often displace well established ways of being and doing.   Envisioned through the lens of classical antiquity, the tilting columns and collapsing floor highlight the instability and fragility of what may seem to be solid and enduring.   The king’s disembodied form alludes to the unreality of his existence and while he seems to occupy this space as a mere artefact, he becomes symbolic of the loss and tragedy that occur when cultural disruption takes place.
